The 12-year-old girl, gang-raped in Afghanistan, weeps as her family demands justice.
1 of 2 The girl's tragic case is one of many in war-torn Afghanistan, activists say.

Makes no difference to me, they're all Afghans..... It's kinda like Vietnam, real hard to tell who you're fighting and tomorrow it might be yesterdays "friendlies"......
Whack'em and Stack'em......

You know these criminals are not punished now and won't be anytime in the near future.... These men like their power and impunity and won't give it up without a fight..... It's unfortunate but a totally different culture.... Fret about it all you want, it won't change a thing..... |
The article says that a rape must be witnessed by four *men*. If it is not, then the victim will be considered an adulteress and she will be punished accordingly...usually execution. With these types of laws, it's a miracle that anyone would come forward and say they've been raped. I commend this girl and her family for trying to come forward. But, you're right, Whata. These rapists are not punished now and they will not be anytime soon. I believe the punishment for rape is a couple of years in prison....nothing compared to the punishment for "adultry." It's just not right.
Have any of you guys read The Kite Runner?
