Thieves are stealing cattle and copper at alarming rates in rural Alabama and authorities said Wednesday they are closing in on those believed responsible.

"We have had an epidemic of home invasion burglaries in Macon County and people have become very concerned about the safety of their families," District Attorney E. Paul Jones said.

Jones and Alabama Agriculture Commissioner Ron Sparks said two men are being charged in burglaries at hunting lodges in Macon County.
