1. You're Lonely: You'd think that going out when you're feeling all alone would be an excellent idea. I mean, how better to get over it than to spend time with a potential new boyfriend, right? Wrong. Loneliness can cloud a girl's judgment and make her do things like consider a 40-year-old virgin who still lives with his parents a viable dating option. Don't ask me how I know this.

2. You're Desperate: This is what loneliness turns into if left untreated. And by "untreated," I don't mean that this is what happens when you're single for a while. Not at all. There are plenty of cheerful single women who are neither desperate nor lonely. Desperation will cause you to do things like drunk-dial the 40-year-old basement-dwelling virgin and beg him for another chance. Once again, don't ask how I know this.

But but but ---- how will Signage ever get his groove on if all the lonely/desparate women stop going out with him???? Crying or Very sad Laughing

Heh... seriously though, it's alarming how many people do this. I'm constantly trying to "counsel" friends who whine about how lonely they are then hookup with someone after engaging in little more than five minutes or conversation. By the 24-hour mark, they're ready to start shackin' up! Then within week, there has been a major meltdown, God forbid they actually get to know whomever and find out they're not even remotely compatible, someone gets cheated on, etc. then they explode and have the nerve to act baffled over why it ended in such a way!?!?!?! And it's a never-ending cycle... they never seem to learn.

And then you have those like me. I get bored, I go out, I may or may not "hook up", but by the end of the date - three at the most - I've mapped the whole relationship out in my mind and can give 20 reasons why it won't work and I'm done.

Which is why I'll never get married again.

Yet, even though you're on the opposite side of the spectrum, I know I'd certainly rather err on the side of caution than be reckless and jump into something when I don't truly know whomever at all.
