I'm just curious as to why people think this is "newsworthy" other than the fact that there are plenty of clueless, borderline nutty types who STILL think and insist that he's Muslim.

not saying its newsworthy but , would you have printed the prayer in your online paper ?
Sorry, I should have said the *media outlet* (i.e. their editors) in question deeming it newsworthy, NOT the public. Oopsie!
No, in part because due to our publication schedule and purpose, we focus more on issue-oriented stuff and commentary. If I were at a daily newspaper though, no, I would never print it for a variety of reasons.

No, at least legally there's no expectation of privacy in a public place like that. Had someone broken into his home and "stolen" it, that would be different.
In general, I just don't see how it's newsworthy. I'm a real hard-ass editorially when it comes to news. To me unless it pertains to the individual's qualifications, voting record (if applicable), platform, etc., I could care less. Generally (though there are always exceptions) I don't see how things like what they're wearing, who's writing their speeches, how much their home costs, what their spouse and/or children do for a living, etc. have anything to do with their candidacy.

Oh no wonder I didnt' see it...I rarely go to the religious section. Considering all of you make fun of my church...
Haha... I apologize if we have in any way, deliberately or by accident, cast doubt upon your religion, Woodie. I am a firm believer in the freedom of religion (including the freedom FROM it), and I respect your spiritual, heartfelt journey through the chicken wings, beer, boobies and whatnot.

No prob Cap that just means I can still drink some more since I'm still seemingly sober.
Heh... my new sobriety test involves flipping the bottle up in the air - Tom Cruise/"Cocktail" style - if I catch it, then I can have another round!

Does that work with police? Because I would hate to have to recite my alphabets backwards. I mean I'm college educated and everything and I can't do that shit sober.
So maybe the next time they give me a test I'll get an empty bottle off the backseat and say if I catch this you let me go home..if I drop it then it's to the drunktank.
Traditionally such prayers, and there are over a million every year, some arriving by fax and email, are collected twice a year and buried on the Mount of Olives. It is considered taboo to read the prayers.

I don't know, Cap. I think he might be able to argue that he did have an expectation of privacy. Although, I'm not sure if there is any legal recourse for such invasions of privacy. It seems like that student should be punished in some way.
