Barron said he was speeding at excessive speeds because he was trying to get away from someone who looked like he was a member of Hell's Angels. He said the officer was in plain clothes, had his high beams on, pursued him for 30 or 40 miles and because he was in a deserted isolated area Barron said he was afraid to pull over for fear he might have a gun. So, Barron said, he decided to speed up.



Er, Senator, sir--Hell's Angels are motorcycle guys and gals.

And "30-40 miles?" You could have driven to any police station for protection. I'll bet you were carrying a cell phone, and you could have used that.

So, this officer was pursuing Barron. Was the officer on duty? If so, the officer would have been in uniform, in a marked or unmarked official car equipped with blue flashing lights.

As absurd as this story sounds, I've had a police officer due the same to me though he was in uniform and in a cruiser. He was DANGEROUSLY close to my bumper and would not back up for any reason. He was close enough that even tapping my bumper to send him a message was out of the question. Then he claimed I ran the red light which was false. It was yellow ad was just turning yellow as I passed under it, yet the irony is that if I had been overly careful and stopped, there's no doubt in my mind he would have rear-ended me. Then he gave the stereotypical "I'm a tough guy" routine yet then didn't even give me a ticket or anything. It took a lot to keep from asking him, "Well, what the hell was all that for then you idiot?"

Notice the discrepancy? The motorcycle started following Barron while in Florida. This so-called cop chased Barron into Alabama, according to the story.

And I doubt any cop trained in motorcycle chases would ride a bumper at high speed.

So...he's no longer a cop, he wasn't in uniform, and he wasn't on a police motorcyle? I wouldn't have stopped either....
