| Okay, the topic has cropped up in other threads, so let's air it out here. What irks you when driving? Speeders? Failure of people to use turn signals? Booming stereos? Passive-aggressive drivers? Speed zones that are too high or too low? Cell phone and text messaging use? Spill it all here!

what the guy above me said
Alot of those things gripe me. I think excessive speeding and riding someone's bumper gripes me most.
Although, I equally despise those who blatently run a redlight.
We all get caught every once in a while going through a light as it changes from yellow to red, but those who blantantly run them really get to me.
Back to the speeding.
As we know several stretches of the interstate is 70mph. If you get pulled over going 85 or higher, don't fuss about being pulled over. Don't blame the police department and the government of trying to cash in. At this point the only chance of taking back the highways is to crack down on speeding.
Is there anyone hear who thinks that if you're pulled over for going 85mph on the interstate, it's not justified? It shouldn't matter if you're the only car within a 100-200yd stretch.

>>>I think excessive speeding and riding someone's bumper gripes me most.
Just for the sake of argument though, are you considering WHY someone may be riding someone's bumper? I'll never do it to a dangerous degree, but I will readily admit that if someone joker is holding up the left lane for no reason, I will in fact close in on his bumper and even tap the horn if he refuses to get over.
>>>We all get caught every once in a while going through a light as it changes from yellow to red, but those who blantantly run them really get to me.
There's a topic of confusion for me. I've always had the understanding that if you cross the marked line while it's yellow, there is no issue. But I've heard recently that a law enforcement officer can in fact use his/her "discretion" and STILL issue a ticket for this even though you haven't run a RED light, just driven through on yellow. Anyone familiar with the statute?
Sharing is caring, so here's a story... Though I know someone always has a hardon for taking something like this out of context, so I'm ready. Traveling down a Montgomery road a few years ago and adhering to the speed limit and all other applicable laws, an officer pulled out of a side road behind me and sped up dramatically, planting himself firmly on my bumper. I freaked out at first because I thought he was going to hit me before I even realized it was an MPD officer. He was so close that I could not see his headlights if you'd like a reference. Anyhow, he stayed on my bumper dangerously close all the way to an intersection. As I approached the light, it turned yellow just as I was going through the intersection, which I don't know why it would be an issue anyway since it had just turned yellow, and quite frankly, had I hit the brakes to stop, there is absolutely no doubt in my mind that he would have rear-ended me. He was not letting up and was WAY too close. That son of a bitch then pulled me over, accused me of "running" the light though that was clearly not the case, gave me a bunch of attitude though I was being very respectful, then let me go with a warning. WTF was the point in that? And uh... not to sound like a complete smartass, but how can you run a red light when the light ISN'T red?

No, just those who don't drive fast enough.

Oh, I keep meaning to put fluid in that.
I promise, my cd player is skipping to one song. The antennae is broken, so that's all I got. Oh, yea, and the damn volume button quit working. That's why you hear "so I jacked the keys to her fucking car and crashed that piece of shit" blaring when I pass by

I swear I was taught to drive that way.

They're all too low. Speaking of low, Granny can't see over the steering wheel anymore. Would someone bring her a phone book to sit on?

I have my stepson do that for me while I'm driving, or I let him drive while I'm doing that.
Seriously, y'all would never want to ride with me.
My stepson will be 16 in two more days. I've had a chauffeur all weekend. All of my friends have had designated drivers all wknd. We figure if we've only got two days left we should take advantage of it. We know come next wknd when he gets his car we'll never see him again and our wallets will constantly be screaming over his gas bill.

My issue with booming stereos isn't so much the annoyance--and it is an annoyance--but safety. For example, someone behind you is coming to a stop, and you're stopped. His/her brakes go out and he can't stop. He/she is frantically hitting his/her horn to let you know something's wrong and that you need to get out of the way... only you can't hear it because a car somewhere around you is effectively rendering EVERYONE unable to hear. Also, similar situation - an emergency vehicle is coming up on an interesection, etc. They're blowing the horn, sirens, whatever to let everyone know they need to move aside. if you're stopped at an intersection already, you're probably not watching your rearview mirror but instead watching for the light to change. You can't hear the sirens because of someone's blaring stereo.
One day just for fun, I'm going to follow someone who's "sharing" their booming stereo with everyone. I'm going to follow the individual home. I'll then come back eh... around 3 am or so, stop outside their home and let loose on a bull horn until he/she comes running to door in PJs angry and completely confused as to why anyone would be so rude as to interrupt their sleep. Then I'll just point to their car stereo and laugh.

Well, for the record, I would forego food before I would do without coffee. That's just me. I have an addiction. And the first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem, so... My name is Cap and I've been a...
No, I think it's some silly ass looking rat type thing.

No, no, no, this week the polar bear went on the "threatened" list. Not because of a decrease in bears, but if global warming continues, their habitat (the ice) will be gone....
The secondary threat to that is all us real southerners will have to drank hot tea....... Just shoot me now.........

Nothing wrong with that, m'boy. Yesterday I drank a cup of tea from India, then an English Breakfast, later iced tea at suppertime, and finished off with a cup of peppermint tea.
Now that's a REAL effete Yankee liberal!
I'd gladly shoot your now, if I knew what it is. Maybe VOR can be of help.
